Hiya..
I need to replace the alternator on my VK.. but Im having a hard time sourcing one - especially since Pick-a-Part had a sale this week and most of the vehicles have been gutted already.
Can I use an alternator from a different model? VL maybe? R31? EA falcon even?

Grab one off a VN-VS V8. They bolt up, and are 85A.
You can get a stuffed VN-VS V8 one and fit the pulley & front case onto a good VN-VR V6 one if it makes it easier to find a solution.
The only catch is the wiring - it is different, but its simple. Youll need the injector type plug off the reg - one wire goes to your old brown wire (for the indicator lamp) and the other goes to the battery for a voltage sense.
