This belmont van is a 2 seater 253 4 speed good chance it is a Sandman.. I asked the seller why he says it isn't one, and he told me he doesn't want to sell it as one in case it isn't one...??? I got no more room for another at home... Let me know why you think it may or may-not be a Sandman http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayI...K:MEWAX:IT#ht_724wt_1165

Well this auction was very, very dodgy, I didnt even place a bid (turns out Id be sleeping in it If I had lol), but a mate did early on, but was out bid at $1500, but was offered a second chance to purchase within seconds of the end of the auction, which ended at $5700, which is way over the top in my honest opinion for the condition of the car, also very suss, as there were another 5 or six bids ahead of him, sounds like the old "use the mates ID to Sheill bid" scam... so lets see if it turns up again......

I wouldnt immediately jump to the conclusion that its a scam, however not saying it doesnt happen though.
I was watching (not bidding) - I reckon the legitimate bids got up to $1770 by user s***e, after that it gets stupid.
Notice that user *** with 0 feedback - obviously a new user retracted a $6,500 bid one minute before close!!!
I never let new users bid on my ebay stuff, unless they contact me first.
Whats interesting is the $5700 winning bid has made several purchases and bids on automotive stuff so looks legit, but youll notice he sniped this auction and placed the bid the day before auction close. |

The bid history for _***_( 0 ) is blatant shill bidding.
___________________________________________________ _***_( 0 ) AU $5,699.00 28-Nov-09 20:19:11 AEDST _***_( 0 ) AU $3,500.00 28-Nov-09 20:15:42 AEDST
___________________________________________
Retracted: AU $6,500.00 Bid: 28-Nov-09 20:16:31 AEDST Retracted: 28-Nov-09 20:18:16 AEDST Explanation: Entered wrong amount ___________________________________________
Wrong amount? What a load of utter s***! Wrong amount would be $6500 instead of $650, or $650000 instead of $6500.00
The fact that he has ZERO feedback, has signed up in the last 30 days, and has only EVER bid on the one item from the ONE seller further confirms it.
By hiding identities, eBay simply makes it even easier for the shill bidders to get away with these antics. Is it too cynical to assume they turn a blind eye to it because a higher final value = a higher feebay fee for them? Or if the shill bidder fails, the seller has to pay even more fees to relist the item. What a great win-win situation for FeeBay!

Most shill bidders are a little smarter than that - they ring up their mate in another suburb/state and get them to do it. With this guy being a new member, theres no history to check either.

On the subject of shill bidding have a look at these three items: 130346266803, 130346408741 and 130330693279
Note bidder"A***C" and his bid activity with the seller. I would find it rare that this person would win one woodgrain radio surround and then bid on a "second" one but none from other sellers in a 2 month period if he wanted two.
Ebay reckon its not a case of shill bidding though and they are always right.
