Hey guys, i have a hk wagon with ye olde 3 spd crash box and am wanting to change to a celica 5Spd. I hear to do this i have to cut out the tranny tunnel and weld a new one in from hr powerglide etc.???? Is this true????? What floor/strength mods have to be made???

The tunnel should be OK as a HK had a powerglide or Saginaw standard. However I think the extension on the box may foul the body floor member directly behind the tunnel - called 'No.1 crossmember' in the parts catalogues. One of my HK 327s had this hacked

You can email me at [email protected]. I hear that even just to use an aussie 4 you have to cut that cross-member and brace it for the shifter anyway.
