Gday all,
My VR ute has an intermittent problem with the transmission, from time to time it just puts itself into what i have been told is "limp home mode" i.e. it stays in second gear what seems like forever, or until you wind it right out to nearly red line, and then it snaps violently into 3rd and emits a loud whining sound the whole time.It is only intermittent, and some daus it doesnt do it at all for weeks, and then it might do it for a whole day or for 20 mins and return to normal, totally random. I have been told by the retired mechanic over the road that it is an electrical problem, but he doesnt know a real lot as he retired just when electronic transmissions were coming into play. Can anyone give me an idea of what to start checking and how to check it. Thanks.
