Anyway, does anyone know of any early left hand drive Holdens that have been brought home, FB to HK etc.

theres a LHD VX in the holden muesuem in echuca, its also modified to run on leaded fuel, reason being it was from a batch that was sent to dubai and they only have leaded petrol over there
i also remember a LHD HQ in a magazine years ago, dont remember much about it though

my understanding is that the HQ never left a factory (here or anywhere else) in LHD....

Sorry Dave, from what I remember the HQ was designed for RHD only because it had to have integrated air con and GMH could not afford to design & build the car in LHD.
The VT was the next LHD design, even though all the Commodores originated from a LHD platform, the cost factor probably ruled it out.
The FB was the first LHD and I think the HK was the last, not 100% with that but cant recall reading about LHD HTs & HGs.

As 80569K has said there was no HQ built in LHD. As a matter of fact there were no LHD HQ to WB or VB to VS.
GM-H built LHD Holdens from FB to HG & then built Toranas LC to UC in LHD to fill the export gap.

although not LHD HQ export was huge with built up cars -14,558 and complete knockdown cars -72,290 sent abroad. Check the back of Holden Heritage books for export figures , LHD/RHD cars not seperated in numbers.
