I have edited the post, rather than filling the forum with my constant posting.

I spent the last 2 days pulling apart my HJ Sandman, in the process I have come across some questions for the pros here, if you would be kind enough to answer them.

1. This is the console I pulled out of her (its a manual) but it is too short to be the right one - can anyone identify it?

2. During my dash removal I found a hole just above the bonnet release cable - do you know what it is for? The bonnet release looks to have been moved from original location and riveted in.

3. My particular model has only 2 air vents, one right of driver and one far left of glove box. The car had been converted to lpg some 5 years ago(??) and the lpg fuel gauge placed into the centre vent location. But this vent never seems to have been installed. Could this be right? Also there is no vent in the dash to the right of the glove box.

One last thing - after removing the seats (thanks guys) I noticed tan upholstery pins, I also have a tan upper front window seal, it's black exterior, but the rear is tan.

Once again, this site is invaluable to me, and thanks so much for your courtesy and help.

I've tried (in 42 degree heat) to remove my front seats from my HJ.

I was told to slide spring lever all the way and heave forward... but it wont come off the rails. Any ideas, other than I am doing it wrong?

Thanks.

Do yourself a favour and go and buy one of those flat ratcheting ring spanners, Kinchrome make what they call reversible "Gear spanners", you wont believe how easy itll make the job.

Holy crap - so you were just trying to rip them off the rails? I would hate to see what would have happened if you DID get them out!!!! You have to take the 4 bolts out that bolt the rails to the floor.

Short console for column shift cars with bucket seats.

The mount for the bonet release is broken from the location you described.

Yes some did not have forced ventilation, this fascia is from such a car.

The underside of seats are always interesting, scrap trim to hold things, in this case butons. As no one sees them they use what ever.
