Hi guys,
Looking to put a few extra gauges in my HK ute. I have a monaro dash, one small gauge will be for fuel and at the moment the other is a VDO water temp/ammeter.
I would like to get an oil pressure and voltage gauge to put into my console Im making up soon. I'm thinking along the lines that having one gauge in the console wouldn't look right so am trying to get 2 or 3 there. I also think it's cheaper to buy a 3 set of gauges together mounted in a bezel.
So my problem is what kind of gauges to get (thinking of electrical to keep it nice and tidy and have the wiring there ready). Get a 3 set of volts/water temp/oil pressure and maybe put something else in the dash? Or get volt/oil and get a new water (without the ammeter) for the dash. Has anyone uses the pyrometer guages before - worth worrying about?

Guess Im a bit of a traditionalist. Why not just use a Monaro cluster that incorporates Fuel, Oil, Water & Amps?
Looking at the dash is a whole lot better than looking down at a console!

Hi, Im not a fan of gauges in consoles as its not really practical but if its the "FAMOUS TACHO" well thats another matter.I put a moon tacho right in the corner(the metal frame not facia) of a standard HQ facia and can see it without looking around the car too much.However if its mainly for looks go for it,when I look into another car and see them in the console it doesnt bother me ,I like the way they look.Go VDO electrical connection if you can ,nice gauges.I think as far as "extra"kind of gauges I reckon its important to run..these..oil..temp..tacho...vaacum if you want 4,then volts. Ive got a tacho mounted front/centre, right above my steering column. Looks good, works great, but not 100% essential really. Haha.
Oil pressure, temp, volts. Theyre what make your car run. Mounting them in a bezel is fine if your car is "accessorised" so to speak. I have tacho, woodgrain wheel, oil pressure and temp on the dash abov ethe gearstick. It all works.
If yours is stock, then a gauge bezel will stand out badly.
I use mechanical gauges as i like the old look (my cars built old-school) and the full sweep of the gauges. Plus its less wiring. |

Can you run a vacuum gauge with straight lpg?

Im not 100% sure,but you can run all the other vacuums ,so I would say yes.
