I have a 1992 VQ Series II Statesman and I have a few questions regarding the tail lights and rear lamp garnish.

I have obtained a genuine Holden part as a replacement for the plastic rear garnish that sits accross the boot lip between the tail light assemblies. However the new part doesn't have the two silver pin stripes that run the length of the garnish. I also noticed that while my old garnish had the pin stripe, my tail lights do not.

Was the pin stripe standard on both Series I and Series II VQs? If so, how do I go about replacing it? The tail lights don't seem to have a proper groove that it would sit in, I'm thinking maybe a previous owner has replaced them with Commodore lights. What are the differences between VN/VQ/VP tail lights?

Also, there are 8 studs that attach the garnish to the boot lip, all the studs line up with the existing holes bar the 2 centre bottom studs. These 2 studs are about 1cm off target, which means I will have to drill 2 new holes to fit the garnish. The part numbers match and its a genuine part. Does anyone know why this is so?

Any help much appreciated!

Cheers.

Dames.

Our enquiry to GMH has revealed that they altered some of the dimensions of the components. This happens when they make a part for a particular model and then adapt it for the next model. Sales don't warrant having two different parts when one can be made
