grab yaself another long neck outta ya carton(if ya have any left)sit down and have a good study of the 2 yrs above mentioned, and study both the cars that you mention as well. so, the answer to whats so good about a ford taxi?? simple, its pedigree, and as much as im a GM man through and through, they had nothing in australia that came even close to it at the time now, throw me a spare coldie can ya please.. Dickson clocked 156 mph, must have detuned the RPO 83 that year. Should have used the Ph 111 again it might have been able to keep up

Was it a GTS350 4 door? I think it raced in 1973 as a 308 trimatic?
Remember 1973 was series production. 1974 was Group C, so much more freedoms allowed.

To my knowledge Byron, 1972 was the last year of series production & 1973 was the first year of Group C. Take a look at the wheels & carby set-ups on the 1973 cars. Also wasnt the Ron Dicksons (Muirs) 4-door GTS a 308 4-speed in 1973 ? Dr Terry _______________________________________ There are only 3 types of people in the world. 1. Doc, you are right. 1973 was a mis-type, meant 1972 in reference to the first post about the the Phase III doing 154mph and the HQ doing the fastest in 1974. Your point about the differences in tyres and carbs between 1972 and 1974 is exactly the point I was trying to make too! I am pretty sure the HQ from 1974 ran as a 308 in 1973 but I thought it was originally an auto and maybe even raced as one?? Just an old memory from somewhere... _______________________________________________________ If we all had the same (good) taste, who would buy all the Fords? |

28mph per 1000 rpm??? haha that 2nd video is awesome...like really, what does GM have to offer in those days?? a big fat nuffinnnnnnnnnnnnn.. once you drive a HO or similar spec vehicle from that model line up, you will never wanna jump back into a holden of that similar era..as much as i am GM thro and thro, they are undisputably the pinnacle of muscle and collectable cars in the country I innovate, never imitate.. They were really that fast, the part where he say 65-70mph out of first and 95mph out of second thats true!(albiet at 7,500 rpm)there was nothing on the road that would catch them ,except may motorbikes but I had 2 of them too.those were the days. But they were "terribly unreliable" thou(mine wasnt new thou) and they handled like a whale, that was their big downside, and in the end thats why I sold mine..........(f@#!k I wished i never!). hindsight. I had an XY interceptor which was basically an unmarked XY GT with HO running gear (factory). I remember reaching 140Mph and the needle kept going. Got a bit scary at around 145Mph. Ive owned Xy-XW Gts, 350/327 monaros but ths XY was the fastest in standard form. . . .
