well byron,
a S/H LSD now is worth $450 plus depending on what ratio, then you have to rebuild it,and they all need new steel hat and side gears etc now and that all adds up, and a small tube housing is also now very expensive, and they are all stuffed as in need straightening and the ends where the seals fit in are all flogged out, so your complete XY length limo rear end with the angle brackets welded under the saddles is worth substantually more than the $800 you want, and it will sell for more than that, its not like monaro stuff that we all say is worth money and then you are stuck with it, stuff like 9" diffs etc will sell and will pull good dollars, more now than even before

Howdy, just to change the subject a bit lets talk about my diff! The diference is the yoke on the diff takes 1.00" universal joint caps and the driveshaft has 1.063" caps. The bit that goes into the powerglide has 2" of shaft sticking out and 1.5" in the output end of the auto. So I assume it is the right length, but is the end that goes into the auto the same for turbo 350 autos etc and possibly one tonner trimatics, or similar? I have fantastic photos but cantget the freaking things onto the foum here, I must be dumb. Does any one have any additional thoughts on what the heck etc? Trust me, I wont be driving it anywhere hard enough to warrant a 9" diff or anything else for that matter, slowly slowly cruisey monkey. Rod[img][/img]

Hi al, Ive gone to Oldholden.com and have measured the tailshaft from Yoke eye centre to eye centre. Its 53.75" and considering it has a 2.75" diameter and fits into the powerglide it must be for the HT 350 with a powerglide. Are these any harder to get than the 307 one with a banjo LSD, ie would there be a chance I could swap it with someone, if htey were getting a better deal I couldnt care less, need to get my car out or the In laws garage..... thanks for all hte help too.... Its more than HT 350A. Its:
HK/T 307 with Salisbury; HK GTS327 with Tonnawanda engine; HT/G 350A.
Should have been Dark Green originally. You want a Pink 2.75" shaft which are 55.35". I did find one recently in a HG 253 4spd Kingswood but that is going into my mates HK GTS 307 auto with banjo. You find them either in your application (ie HK-T 307 powerglide with banjo) or HT-HG 253 Saginaw with banjo. Ill have a look if I have any spare but Im pretty sure they are all dark green examples.

None of them will work. They are what Geoff already has.

Ok, thanks guys. Ill go see the guy I bought the car off and see if he can organise a straight swap for the right one, it was him who supplied the wrong one in hte fist place. The difference now as against where I was before posting this thread is I now know exactly what I have and exactly what I need. All input has been appreciated, and if I win Tatts Ill get a Ford 9 inch done, that should cover all recommendations posted ! Rod

byron,
you are starting to be a D.A.Barnes and repeat stuff. who said that warren and bens info is correct/not correct for what he needs anyways?? their info may be spot on, but he seems to still be not sure, so all im saying is take it to someone that knows and who can actually I.D the bits he has by actually looking at them and then steering him in the right direction, coz in the end it will save alot of grief and keyboard ping pong as it already is.
while we on this subject of warrens info, just ask him who was his contact in GM, and who he used to get his info from outta GMH here in Melb,as this contact and i and the rest of our family get together for dinner on a regular basis.

Im pretty confident that what I told Rod that he needs (pink driveshaft) is exactly what he needs. This is exactly what we had to source for a 307, powerglide, banjo GTS and its length was spot on according to Ben and Warrens info. The length quoted for the existing shaft also mates up exactly with what I have here in front of me and also with the said reference material. Thus I do not see how Rod can achieve much more that that by asking someone that knows, when the most (or equally the most, or close to it) knowledgable HK-HG person around to ask would refer to the book that he authored to provide the same information. Not that it matters, but repeat what? Warren can reply himself when he reads this!

Well that means I must go see myself!! I know now EXACTLY what I have and EXACTLY what I need to get. I will see if I can do a swap or Ill chuck it on Feebay and buy the pink shaft which is the 307 powerglide with a Banjo LSD. Im sure if I had money to spare Id be geting a full house 350 and getting a 9 inch but gettin retrenched kinda sucks!! Ill keep it stock for a while until funds improve. Im sure this is a chicken sh#t boring post but again I say thank you to ALL that helped me. Jeez, Im a bit hesitant to ask any other questions now, too much sniper fire!!! :) Chill out little peeps.

thats fine bryon, but you misinterpret was i was getting at, or maybe i am not understanding you. i did not once question warren, as i feel he is a pure gentleman, all i was saying was that with pink, blue, 350A taishaft, and blah blah blah, he may still be cofused, so simply go ask someone who will know, simple. believe it or not, there are some switched on dudes around still that would be able to help just by sighting what he has,in fact i spoke to one of them today and we logged here and he told me to contact the dude and he would sort it for him free of charge even thats all i was trying to say, but dunn matter now i guess.
