Its been a bit quiet here today, so I thought that I would liven things up a bit.
Heres a quiz that will get the real Holden guys thinking.

1. Which Holden series has the most available engine options ?
2. What are 2 identifying features of a Holden EH S4 ?
3. If we dont count car radios & alternators as being electronic devices, what was the first Holden to use electronics of any type ?
4. What was the first Holden to feature rack & pinion steering ?
5. What Holden (of any type) had the largest engine capacity ?
6. What Holden (of any type) had the smallest ?
7. In which Holden series was the first genuine cassette player made available ?
8. When were genuine (Nasco) power brakes first made available on a Holden ?
9. When was Holden power steering first made available ?
10. Which Holden was the first to feature power steering as standard equipment ?

There are no prizes, just the prestige of being the first in with 10 correct answers.
There are rules, Byron, Warren, commodorenut & BS are not allowed to enter. Sorry guys.

Dr Terry

Can I play Devils advocate though, and be cheeky?

Heres one - Question talks about Holdens. So that rules out Torana, Sunbird, Statesman, Gemini, Commodore!!

So limits it to 48/215 to WB, and VU-VE ute. Possibly VG-VSIII ute but I thinks some of these are badged as Commodores...

Will make the quiz a bit easier!

Sorry Bryon, I should have clarified that bit.

Im talking about all cars that are considered or badged Holdens. I realise that some cars like HQ> Statesmans & some Toranas didnt actually have a Holden badge but they are all included. All Australian Commodores & utes etc. Even GM-H themselves arent quite sure which actually had a Holden badge & which one didnt. All the imports with Holden badges (Barinas, Rodeos, Drovers etc.) all included.

The ones I dont count as Holdens are anything that was made for export as a Chev or Pontiac etc. I dont count Bedfords or Vauxhalls. I also draw a line at HSV, HSV is a privately owned company selling cars with an HSV badge & not a Holden badge. Even
VFacts figures exclude HSV.

BTW, nobody has got anywhere near 10 correct answers so far.

In 69 the Hurricane had all sorts of electronic gizmos like closed circuit tv rear vision and route finder navigation. Does it count for question 3?

It has to be a production car, not a protoype or concept car. But the answer is earlier than 1969 anyway.

So Terry does that rule out the equivalent GMH product as the XW Bill Bourke special (for the biggest engine question)?

James, ill prompt a bit here. If you are differentiating between 186S and 186 then surely 350M and 350A are as different as well?

Again, playing devils advocate (although Im sure Dr Terry will disallow the 327 even though it was in a production HT) for engines, what about HT?

161H, 161L, 186P, 186L, 186S, 253H, 253L, 307, 308H, 327, 350M, 350A.

Although if you include the AHG vehicles I agree with you on HG:

161H, 161L, 186P, 186L, 186S, GD, GE, GL, GM, 253H, 253L, 308H, 350M, 350L (plus the 130E on the export vehicles).

Although LC might equal HG with 14 engine options that I can think of plus maybe one more if 130T/CA prefixed engines count (may be export only).

The XW Bill Bourke special was not a production car, it was like many of Leo Pruneaus & John Bagshaws show cars. They were one-off specials.

OK scores so far:

monarosteve - 1 (actually 2 x 0.5)
gthr - 0.5
utility8 - 1.5
monaromuscle - 3.5
wbute - 3.5
monaro202 - 4
BlueZ - 2

Nobody has answered questions 6 or 7 correctly & questions 1 & 8 have only been answered correctly once. Question 3 is a curly one & nobody has got my answer to it, 2 guys got close so I gave them 0.5.

Ill give all my answers when somebody can score 6 or better.

On second thoughts I should let commodorenut have a shot, because most topics are pre-Commodore.

Dr Terry.
