I find it a bit of a pity there is squabbling over something like this.
I have never had the chance to obtain a copy, and frankly $5-$600 is well out of my price range for a simple book when I can locate the information on the internet or through knowledgeable people like Warren on forums like these.
Im happy to fork out money for information that I want, for example I plan on buying Terrys 60 Years of Holden and also Norms Monaro Magic book in the next week or two for good solid reference items, and Im happy to pay the money asked for them, as I would be happy to pay for Warren and Bens book, had it been reprinted.
I have an original 1939 copy of "The Complete Adventures of Blinky Bill" which has been reprinted 15 times, yet my original version still holds its value. This is I am sure the same as what Warren and Bens book would do if there was a reprint made.
At the end of the day, it seems kind of selfish (by no means aimed at you Warren or Ben)that the information contained within those pages be left to a handful of people, what happens when Warren/Ben/others pass away (which will happen, no offence Warren or Ben), or other noted people with extensive knowledge of various vehicles? We lose a lot of invaluable information that a meagre few have in print, copies get misplaced/destroyed/heavily guarded and the information slowly gets less obtainable..........
Whilst the internet and forums such as these are great tools for finding information out, it is also not the be all and end all of finding information, a lot of which is still located within print. For example if you do a search on GTS/4s, there is nowhere near the amount of information on the internet that is found within any of the above authors books.
Just my $0.02 cents on the matter.

No where in my copy does it state that this book will not be re-printed ,if its not in black and white writtin in the original copy of the book then bad luck if it is reprinted. It wouldn`t bother me I`m not in it for the money.

all a bit crazy i hope one day it is reprinted, really mentioning court action lol think about this if you did take warren and ben to court and LOST you would have to pay there legal bill??? over a book you paid some on else $500 for. just because today i might say im not going to buy a rotarie does not mean that i,ll buy one next week. Ben and Warren can do as they both please. my two cents pete.

Should I decide to sell it at some stage I should at least get my money back. If it is re-printed it becomes as Frank says, just another automotive book readily available and my second hand one is suddenly worthless.
Ive had my say and Ill leave it at that.
You are kidding yourself if you even still think that it is worth what you paid for it. As has been said time and time again, the information is out there. As a matter of fact, probably all in the new Norm Darwin book, and there is one coming from Gavin Farmer, the guy that wrote the book on Chargers. Now dont you think that people are going to buy the book that is in print for $50 instead of yours for $600?? So there are some errors in the new book, for a $550 difference, I can live with a few errors. Warren has admitted their book has errors too, so there is no perfect information reference. The market for these went through the rood when there was nothing else, but there is now, and more coming, all the information will be the same, just in a different package. I say reprint it, see how it competes in the market place with the other new comers, I am betting that you sell the 1400 copies that you sold the first time round in the first month. Go on Warren, hit the reprint button. Get rid of the crappy cover though. Put a nice pic of a HK on the front and a HZ on the back.. Just an Idea!! BUT REPRINT IT!! IT IS NEEDED!!!

I reckon a HK on the front, and a VZ CV8-Z on the rear - first, and last, of the 3 generation span.

Our book was designed for the Monaro nut, the current books are for Monaro enthusiasts and fans. I doubt there are too many people that have read ours back to front.
Its like workshop manuals, the factory manual for the full on mechanic and the Gregories for the handyman. (spoke to Mountain motor books at Toowoomba, he continually tells me that it was near impossible to sell our book, people would pick it up, breeze through it and put it down and buy the spotlight book. 99% of buying customers want pictures and story, not facts/figures/specifications)
I am yet to see a business case to print the book, yes I think we would sell lots in the first month, but then back right off again, putting it out of print again. By the time you set up again, PO box, ABN etc etc, just not worth the hastle. Then in 5 years time we are back to print it again.
Buy the new books, join a club, compile some info and publish on the net, but lets just leave the Monaro story/facts to its place in history.
Warren

Ill come to the flicks with ya Frank, but no funny stuff. We will go and see one of those Yankee "Ill sue you and you sue me movies" Ya know the one Frank, its the one that is sending this whole world and now it looks like this country and whats left of its Australian male down the bogger and making solicitors fatter. I bought my copy for $54 simply for info in it, not to make money or for bragging rights at the next Monaro event. Its dog eared, filthy, greasy and Im happy to have it.

i got my copy of the monaro story 5 years ogo for $500 thats what the market wanted at the time!! so i payed it if they ever did a reprint (which they wont) thats my bad luck no one made me buy it i got it because i needed information as i was looking into rebuilding mine!! like warren said thats all that was around at the time now there are books coming from other places plus heaps of stuff on the net as to a court case thats like saying someone that paid $500,000 for a phase 3 and cant get half his money back now you will sue the person you payed $500,000 too the judge would laugh you out of court so even though i know they wont reprint it there is no way i would be upset if they did!!!

To my knowledge there were some that were numbered & some not, Im sure Warren could clear that one up. Hello all,
What a read!! But, and its a big butt, DA Barnes scores a point for getting so close. Yes, its true. The Monaro Facts/The Monaro Story - otherwise known as the MONARO book - will be on sale for $50 (no GST or any other tax) at Warwick in September. There are only 349 copies (Im keeping #37 for my collection) of it available so start saving now. If you object to the price then you can argue all you like and will end up getting a copy for free (limit of one per person). No ifs or buts!
The 350 copies are those that were printed in error back in late 1996 and have the numbered/signed pages defective (as in they are blank) and were deemed unsaleable. The 14 cartons of books have surfaced after all this time and with the 2010 Nationals hosted in the same state as the MONARO book was produced, printed and published, it has been decided to add another treat to the big event.
Just make sure you dont miss this amazing opportunity at securing a copy - or two or thirty three. Just look for the Monaro blimp located on the southern side of the Showgrounds on the Saturday (its really big and hard to miss - mind you some may not spot it!).
If you have scrolled down this far you loose 20 points in the quiz as this is a hoax. Serves you right for getting sucked in to this.
You have to laugh at the whole episode and whilst doing that have a laugh at yourself as well.
Thanks for reading this, Ben Stewart. 3.19pm 10/02/10
