Gday guys

Wanting to do bit of a upgrade to the 253. So far i have done 4 brl rochester carb, edelbrock perfomer manifold & pacemaker extractors with a deul 2inch exhaust system.
With the 2 below which would be a better option 1st as i cant do both at the same time.

1) upgrade of cam

2) upgrade the ignition from points to HEI with MSD dissy/coil/leads.

Thanks peoples.

It depends what you are using the car for.

If its a streeter, fit the HEI, dont bother with the MSD, the Bosch/Holden is more than you need. Get the dissy curved & the whole set-up tuned by an old school dyno tuner. It will be worth every cent.

Personally I would bother with a cam change on a street 253, not worth the effort. You will lose too much bottom end torque.

Look how well HDT/Brocks go with a stock cam.

i agree with the doc

the best dizzy to get is the standard bosch like on the blue motors, the HEI upgrade is the cheapest and best upgrade you can do to your engine

if you want to go a bit further, get a good set of leads and put in a set of brisks spark plugs
