Yeah, they existed - Euro pack or sports pack are the names Ive heard it called the most.

You could get it on different trim levels - the SL/E had the 309/310 pack, and the SL had similar - basically a 253 / 4 speed, headlight wipers/washers, dual exhaust, and possibly the SL/E alloys - but cant confirm them 100%.

Cheers,

Mick

Hi Guys.

The Euro Pack & the Sports Pack in the VB series were 2 different animals.

AFAIK 208 & 306 were the Euro Packs & were optioned this way:

208 = Commodore SL with manual trans (3.3 or 4.2 V8) plus 4 wheel discs, headlight wiper/washer, stereo, 15" alloys etc. etc. (basically an SL/E upgrade)
306 = Commodore SL/E with manual trans (3.3 or 4.2 V8) plus central locking & rear speaker

Pack numbers 107, 207, 308 & 310 were the Sports Packs & were optioned this way:

107 = Commodore with 4.2 manual plus 4 wheel discs, dual exhaust, SL/E instruments, 15" alloys, LH mirror.
207 = Commodore SL with 4.2 manual plus 4 wheel discs, dual exhaust, SL/E instruments, 15" alloys,headlight wiper/washer.
308 = Commodore SL/E with 5.0 manual (called Sports Pack A), dual exhaust & rear speaker
310 = Commodore SL/E with 5.0 auto (called Sports Pack B), dual exhaust, rear speaker, central locking & power windows.

Most Packs in the VB series were given names, but in later Commodores they just used numbers.

Dr Terry

Friends of mine had one near new. It was a 253 auto though.

Mine was a SL 253 auto, woodgrain sports dash with 4 gauges, speedo and tacho, 4 wheel discs, 15" alloys, headlight wiper/washer and dual exhaust, LH mirror and It had vinyl seats. It also had a red with black border infill panel between the tail lights with Commodore on it from memory.

Did all SL/E dashes have woodgrain and the Tachometer instead of that stupid Economy gauge?

In VB yes.

In VC SL/Es, they dropped woodgrain & the 6 cylinder SL/E had a vacuum gauge.

Mick

Does anyone know anything about the papaya VH Commodores? I assume they were just a local dealer thing here in the central west of NSW. They were orange(papaya I assume), 4.2 litre manual, had a black pinstripe up the side with Papaya written on the rear quater panel in a nice font and had hotwires on them. Just curious as I always thought they were quite a nice looking car.
