Hi people ,
I have a 186 3 on tree HT on gas and she is a bit of a slug ;-(
I am thinking 253 maybee for a bit of torque and still reasonable economy ( its my daily driver ) , so will a 253 with v8 3 speed manual box( from a Hz or such ) go in without too much drama ?
What would i need for a conversion ?
Thanks for your good advice

well, if you fussed bout mileage and cost of conversion etc, leave the HT as it is then and buy a cheap little run around for everyday use, gunna work out cheaper and easier in the long run

Hey Frank ,Balls ? Does it get any better than Big Block Chrysler except for a Hemi ?
My daily driver now is a 1966 Chrysler 300 with a 440 in it (Jet-440). Bog Stock its still 360HP ,and a Chrysler 300L with a Factory Hi-po 413 also here in 2 weeks .Why would i need to beef up the van ?

Who needs styling whem you could order a Hemi 426!

Anthony, a HT/G 253 or 308 (or any 253 or trimatic pattern 308 with HT/G sump and pickup) will bolt straight in where the 186 is. You just have to change the 6cyl 3 speed out for a V8 one. Or pull the 6cyl box out and put a bearing kit through it, except put it back together with a V8 3spd input shaft and input shaft cover. Youll also need a HQ-mid HZ V8 bellhousing, clutch kit, etc. There is also some differences between the V8 and 6cyl 3spd clutch linkage setup. Ill have a look later when I have a bit more time and tell you which bits you need. Lastly itd be a good idea to get a V8 tailshaft and V8 diff centre, or change the yoke on the 6cyl diff for a V8 one. I think I have a new V8 3spd input shaft and 2nd hand cover here somewhere, the input shaft is a later vesrion with the neoprene seal and wont leak on hills like the early scroll seal style. Greg at ClassicOzWreck would have most of the other bits.

Thanks Itch i dont want to stereotype so i will leave your comment alone .
But if you can get my point , some people drink cheap alcohol because they dont know the difference , its the same with cars.

Open your eyes up and you may see something better than a hotted up Monaro in your midst.

Thats one action vehicle Frank , think it might blow my doors off by a bit ! The car from certain angles look a bit weird and ugly , but in real life it blows people away with its Jet like looks .
Its not a case of too much time ,its a couple of clicks on the computer to hit the buy it now , a quick email to my importer and wait 6 weeks . Its easier than buying a car from 3 suburbs away now Frank , and you get to have something no one else has. (or wants in some people minds !!!)

I must disagree as quite often they got the styling spot on. Like all Americans they did get a few wrong though.

Vandals and graffiti "artists" do everyone a favour and target parking meters and fixed speed cameras only.
