i ask myself that same question, and i also ask myself why HO stuff is expensive.
these things should be so cheap and easy to build up, but nope, its dudes like us that talk it up and make it pricey, and then we whinge when we have to pay the prices we created!! you cant tell me certain parts like steering wheels etc are worth what people want for them, no way at all, that why you see alot of projects for sale after owners lose interest.
so jimmy, to answer the question, i really dont know as he only A9X I like had a 484 BAE headed, twin magneto, screw type blower KB in it and was raced in top doorslammer class in the early to mid 90s

Not all L34 and A9X raced with hotwires either. They look heaps better with gold Simmons on them anyway.

Its all about the market.

If someone wants to pay big bucks for HQ Hotwires because they fit on an A9X then thats their business.

I was being a little sarcastic, its like describing some door handles as being L34 or A9X, even though they are the same on every Torana.

Some people dont actually know that HQ hotwires arent that rare, but think they are special and worth more if described as A9X hotwires and the sellers are taking advantage of this.

I saw that ad on ebay the other day that had the starting bid of $4500 for the "A9X Hotwires". Couldnt believe it myself. The guy I bought my coupe off had a pair of 10" hotwires which he sold for $1200 to someone in Tassie. I bought the remaining 8" hotwires (4 of them) and 2x8" and 2 10" US racers for $800. All had good tyres on them too.

Ive got a heap of 14x8 Hotwires and 14x8 US racers (or 5 x jellybean slots), and a pair of 15x8.5" US racers too. I almost scrapped them all when I moved, lucky I kept them.
