Commodore idle fluctuation then cuts out

When my Commodore Vt V6 gas/petrol is at idle it drops right down then kicks back up again to normal idle. Just started happening then tonight it wouldnt start at all. Called the RAC breakdown and guess what started straight away on fuel. Doesn't seem to have a problem when running on gas only on fuel. I drove it home on gas and it didn't miss a beat. It has to run on fuel before it switches to gas. My guess fuel pump on it's way out. Any opinions help appreciated. Cheers Dave

Crank angle sensor? How kms, and has it been changed?

The car has done 240k and crank angle sensor has never been changed nor has the fuel pump. Any way to test the crank angle sensor. Will it leave a fault code? If so how do I access the info on the computer. Thanks Dave

I threw up a similar post a few months ago with my VX petrol V6.
Idle being anywhere between 600 & 1100 as well as dropping a couple of hundred revs every few seconds when I was sitting on 100kph.
The advice was faulty plug lead, new set of leads fixed it.
I also cleaned the throttle body and the plenum box.

We had a VS V6 with 170k on and crank angle sensor failed intermittently while driving. Its under and behind the harmonic balancer. If you give it a wiggle and it works then cuts out again its a sure sign.
