Aussie 4spd is std fitment to VK, so youll just have to find a 6cyl pedal box, cable and bellhousing fron a VK. VB-VH may be the same pedal box but youll need a VK aussie 4spd bellhousing/fork/throwout for the EST sensor to poke through. Youll also need a VK 6cyl flywheel as the VK engine has a dowel on the crank, and clutch kit. Then any aussie 6cyl 4spd will fit. The speedo cable gear will probably be wrong too but will fit. Id be using an M20 ratio.

Gday HK1837.

When you say Aussie 4 speed are you referring to M20 series?
I ask as my VK as I have been told has a "Phillipino" 4 speed and is totally different. I tried to swap a bellhousing between the two boxes and had no luck.

Do you need the sensor for the EST? I ask this as mine was removed from the block when the motor received a rebuild. And have had no noticible engine/timing dramas since the removal of the sensor.
I can understand your statement if the owner of a car wanted to keep the car to factory issue standards.

Just asking for greater knowledge and understanding.

If the motor still runs with the crank sensor NOT fitted in position, the car is not using the EST system.

Many of these cars have had a normal Blue motor style HEI dissy fitted in place of the EST set-up, making the existing crank sensor redundant.

M20 is the code for the standard 4speed in a series, and it applies equally to Opel in HK-HG, Aussie 4spd in HQ-VK. It also refers to the XU-1 gearbox in late LC and LJ.
The Phillipino box is the Torquemaster MC6 box which was fitted to some UC and Commodore. The M20 was available in VK but not that common. If you dont have the EST working anymore just get an M20 6cyl conversion out of any VB-VK. Just get eveything from flywheel to shifter to pedal box. You can use the trimatic crossmember, speedo cable and tailshaft. Just check first that a VB-VH pedal box will fit a VK.
