Team

Looking at a big nut master cylinder that I think were used on the the HK-Gs at my local brake shop.

Need help with date stamps.

This one has a date stamp that looks like 14C2P.

Maybe 14th day of March 2015 - back from the future?????

Maybe it's not a date stamp, but a model number?

Any ideas??

Should the body be black or silver??

Nut mill finish??

Wire and lid zinc plated??

Cheers

Jeremy

14/3/72. Not sure what the P stands for.

I think the body is black, cap and clip are zinc and the nut is naked with red washer behind it. Check with a guru first before taking what Im saying as gospel though. Dr Terry will have a good idea as he rebuilds them.

P means it was made on the PM shift at the GMH plant at the time . These were made by GMH in the Fishermans bend factory so i have been told . A means AM or afternoon shift to my knowledge .

Originally the bodies were raw cast and rusted quickly , if you bought one new from Holden as a spare part they were Black , and most paint them black today . Some paint them cast grey to give the original appearance but giving them some durability .
The lid is blue zinc as is the big nut and bail. Originally all 3 would have been Cadmium Plated which gives them the slightly flatter/satin look to them . The washer is aluminium so its left raw .
