is it possible to get slotted rotors machined..
as in the ones on my vy senator
doesnt it shave metal of the face of the rotor!?!
i can't see how it could with the slots.

isnt it cheaper to replace them?

yes they can be machined, they just put them in a lathe and take a cut off the face of the rotor

should cost around $20 each rotor

jim, slotted rotors are damn expensive, about $120 each for cheapies

can be done on the car, find a local mobile brake repairer........... easy!

at garages they usually charge you for dismantling and sending them out,i know this as ive witnessed it, and no ,not any garage that i go too.(just by chance)....yeh very cheap!?..get new ones.

Agreed its more accurate, faster turnaround and cheaper.

Machining over slots is no different, the tool only cuts where there is metal.

I can only imagine that on car machining is more accurate if theres a degree of warping from the pressure applied through the studs into the rotor?
