The good thing about a 253 is that it is as easily replaced with a 350 as a 308 is, and the cars are cheaper to start with!

I think its a long bow to compare an LS to a GTS...
and yes whilst the advertised LS is a 350 car which makes it a desireable example IMO iitsmint is not comparing apples with apples.....
frank would know better than me but if we were comparing the equivalent models in the ford range say an XA GT 302 and an XA Fairmont 351 would the the values or desirability be comparable... probably not...
is an LS350 a muscle car... i think thats a very debateable question
also I wouldnt trade my HQ GTS 253 coupe for an LS 350.. but thats just me..

308 will bolt in exactly where a 253 is, with the qualification that it must be a trimatic/manual block as TH pattern blocks have the different bellhousing pattern. 350 is also fine in HQ as it was standard/optional in HQ. Its a little harder needing a few changes like radiator, exhaust, throttle bracket, gearbox or bellhousing etc but still an easy bolt in. _______________________________________________________ If we all had the same (good) taste, who would buy all the Fords? |

xa gt 302?never heard of one of them, but i do know what you mean..ps Byron is correct with all that too. ls350 is a muscle car in my opinion, just about anything with a good 350 in is nearly a muscle car...jmo Jim in Adelaide...Hindsight is bad vision! i guess i was just saying that the LS is the fairmont equivalent and you cant compare a fairmont to a GT... Al

Well boys, it comes down to value for money, The two are the same animal, except one has a 350 and the other a 253. In terms of value you get a lot more goodies with the ls 350, Da engine to start. Interesting to hear that some consider the LS 350 not to be a muscle car, well is a 253 powered coupe a muscle car??? Hmmmmmmmmm. At the very least my comments have generated some interesting options. And we are all interested in old cars with V8s which is the most important aspect of any discussion on this site. Must also say that we havent had a reply from rockett the man with several 253s in the shed!!!!!!!! You never Know one day the sluggie 253 might become a collectors item.!!!!!!!!!!!!! So hang onto them and store em away. !
