ANyone know how to go about this project, having one fitted to a XB sedan? I have a turret already with sunroof in it.
Cost and what method is likely to be chosen by the panel shop like cutting pillers or dropping into existing roof??
Also, if anyone knows of a place that has experience with this so I can ask questions and get an idea of how they would like to do the job.

I know one of the members at the Australian Falcon GT club forum does sunroof conversions. Might pay to to join the forum there and ask for some help. Its not a job for the inexperienced.

We wreck,
Im near Goulburn NSW, striking distance to Sydney. The turret I have (with sunroof) is only average (rust) and the existing roof is excellent on the receiving car.
I spoke to a panel shop and they said that some places have dies they use to shape the hole/lip in the roof but they are harder to find nowadays, that seems to be the main issue, the 90 deg lip in the top of the roof.
Id rather not cut the roof at the pillars as that will just graft a average roof into a car with an excellent one.
I fail to see how just installing the sunroof in from underneath and welding it near the doors like they are done from factory can be that hard to do. Cutting pillars is the easy option and not necessarily better it just avoids doing the lip in the roof. I got quoted $3000 to do the job which I think is pretty expensive!!

Hi Arthur
I think Paul is referring to Dave Shaw. He is an early Falcon (predominantly GT) specialist at Blacktown and he is also well known for his skills repairing and fitting sunroofs to them. There would not be many, if any, still working who have his depth of experience. He has done plenty. I have an XY with a factory fitted sunroof. If I have a problem with it I will trailer it 700Ks to his shop for repair as I have before for other work. He knows what he is doing and all the work Ive seen is fantastic......Can be a little slow because he can talk the ears off an elephant...(which is worse than me....I can only talk underwater with a mouthfull of marbles).
If you want to fit a sunroof to an early Falcon dont make saving money a reason for going with them. Dont let anyone bugger with a job like that unless they have done plenty of them (recently).

Yes Nick, I was refering to Dave Shaw. With any request on the Aussie GT site with the sunroofs Dave is the one who knows what he is talking about.
