This picture is from the Adelaide engine assembly plant 1954. It may be another GMH plant but was definately 1954. The picture was published courtesy of GMH pic has also been posted on oldholden at some stage

theres my engine 4th from the left..ha ha ..ps If you get caught with a camera or mobile phone with a camera in HOLDEN you get dissmised immediatly so good luck with your photo search,maybe someone that doesnt work there anymore will have one,,this is just some info for all.

thats a great pic, if it was adelaide i never new they assembled engines there? whats the go with the red generator and starter on some and others are black? would love to see pic of bodies being assembled in the old days. thanks for the pic its great pete.

Hi Guys
It has to be Fishermans Bend (Port Melbourne), thats the only place where engines were built.
It also has to be late 1952 or early 1953. The reason for the two differently coloured starters & generators, is that this was the changeover period from red (Delco Remy) to black (Bosch)electical units.
The photo may have been published in 1954, but it must have been taken at least a year earlier.

That picture is on page 139 of this book  well worth a read and has many pics inside the plants etc, Not sure if its still available to buy though??

I remember when doing training for my private pilots licence, at the school there was a tigermoth it had a general motors holden plate on the engine, anyway it never let us down lol. pete.
