Hi guys,
This guy is claiming that he has a Australian complete motor and before I snatch it up I want to really make sure I am not getting duped. The numbers he gave me were as follows:
D2AE-CA6H18 on engine
and
JG37TM91968K on cylinder head
Would this be a 351C, 2 bolt main, '72, 2v heads?

Forgive the naivety...but what advantage does an "australian 351c" hold over the 351c found in the 1000's of 351c falcons?

the original poster appears to be from the usa
our original clevo's were imported in but later model ones where manufactured here in australia
the australian ones from what i understand are stronger then a yankee block, the black block clevelands were stronger again.
this is just standard 2 bolt main blocks were talking abuot tho
obviously the 4 bolt mains etc from the states are stronger.
but sorry i cant help you out with the the code breakdown mate

The "JG37****" number should be on the block not the head. JG denotes the engine plant that it was built in "J" Australia and "G" Geelong. So yes it's an Australian built Cleveland but as far as I know it could be a 302C. Only one way to tell what it is for certain nearly 40 years after it left the factory and that is to remove a head and the sump for a look see.

or u can pull out a spark plug, check the stroke, 3.5" is a 351 and 3.0" is a 302

march 1977 build 302 or 351 cleveland from a fairlane 500. if you get me a pic of the cylinder head where the accessories would normally bolt on, i will tell you what it is(302 or 351) by the casting makes "Reputations are made and broken as soon as you enter or leave my shed.."

The 'D' blocks were stronger they used the pressure casting method and the last XE blocks were pressure cast as well. All cleveland blocks were first made in the USA. but in aus we only cast the blocks from about late 1975. First the motors were full imports. then 1972 we imported the blocks fully machined. these have a date stamped on the water pump to block facing. then after that we got just the bear cast block and did all the machining on them. 6H18 = 18/8/76 block casting 37 fairlane 500 T = 1977 M = march The heads will have a date casting and could be 302 or 351 chamber with 2V ports if ORIGINAL.
