was doing my 6th cruise around the block in mm4 at the wintersun festival, coolongatta today, keeping my hair just right for all the pics etc.
when right in the middle of the main drag, at the lights! nothing? no ignition no nothing!!
had to get pushed off the road! sheesh!!!
now turned out to be the battery terminals are rusting from the salt air!!
whats the secret to stop embarrassing moments like this?? silicone spray? vasoline? peanut butter? must be something to stop connections getting corroded?
solution appreciated?

Wintersun is disorganised enough without interlopers trying to help, lol.
Any dielectric grease or vaso, vicks or whatever will stay on enough to keep the air out.

For 15 years I've used a product called Corode Cure, get it from any reputable parts store. Been good so far.

hey 80569k i was just passing thru, couldnt believe some would think MM4 was part of the show?? amazing??
maybe it was the flux capacitor in the bonnet? or the laserlight and foamofill catamaran on the roof? or the deep rumbling sound of the 308 donk, in a transit? or me doog hanging out the window barking at them all?
have had to spend all day, just to keep me makeup jest right

Sorry BCB, I forgot that you are now a bona fide Queenslander, so no you were not the interloper, more like star of the show by the sounds of it.
My spies up there tell me that this is the last year that the Wintersun will be held at Cooly, Port Maquarie next year and maybe Mildura after that.

Mildura at this time of year????????
Will they change the name to WINTERFREEZE?
I am sure it will be at least ten time more successful than a Winter meet on the Goldie...not.
It will be a shame to lose such an event from such a great part of Australia. Does anyone know why the very wise operators have decided to shift it?

Nick its called selling out to the highest bidder.... events NSW have secured wintersun for the next 5 years... to be shifted around regional nsw... pt macquarie is next .... and after that events nsw are taking submissions from regional communities willing to promote the event in partnership with events nsw.... my local area on the far south coast is putting in a submission... mildura will not happen as it is in victoria.... cheers Al

i must admit it is a strange suggestion to put this festival at "mildura", this time of year? rock + roll with iceskates anyone? full snow camping gear, minus 4 in mornings, arrh, lovelly.
it is chockers here because of proximity to gcoast brissy, and weather is mild,days warm, even pt macquarie will be cooler than here, this time of year?? maybe even wet?
anyways hope it is successful for whoever gets it,
back to the fishing

I doublechecked with my spy and Mildura was one of many towns who were interested in hosting the event before the NSW mob got the gig. Don't think the timing would be set in stone so it could be moved around to suit the weather. It was only two or three weeks ago that Port Macquarie had their All Holden Day event, maybe they will merge the two next year.
The gossip at Wintersun last year was that the organisers were barely making enough to run the event. Story was that the majority of local businesses were prepared to take the cash flow but reluctant to put money in, same argument every year until the organisers finally pulled the pin.
