I'm currently looking at purchasing a 6/71 for my 308 but i'm not 100% on what the different pitch/size belt applications are used for. Can someone please shed some light on the situation for me and maybe give me some suggestions on what i should use, i'm looking at only running around 8-10psi boost. Does it make a difference also if i decide to run power steering also (because of the extra belt length req)?

Cheers

For power steering, get the pulley with the aditional v-belt groove. Means that your gilmer belt is doing power and water and doesn't have to be so long

I would be looking at what is available & what other guys have used because it's not common to use the bower belt to run the other accessories.

Normally the alternator, water pump, power steering etc. would have their own belts, perhaps their original V-belts, while the blower belt only runs around the crank, the blower & an adjustable idler pulley.

When fitting a 671 the belt idle and adjustment pulley will be on the drivers side of the car all accessories need to be run from the crank, we use various pulley configurations depending on HP, space and dollars,,The 8mm, round tooth profile is capable of transferring as much as 40% more power than the 1/2" pitch, square tooth profile. As a general rule 1/2" pitch is good up to 12-15% overdrive on most blower applications. Large blowers and high drive ratios should use the 8mm or 14mm, round tooth design.

The amount of space on front of the motor for the blower drive system depends on the width of the blower pulleys and the number of accessory vee groove pulleys needed for each application. An easy rule of thumb is to add the width of the blower pulleys to the front edge of the vee pulley furthest from the engine block.

shoot me an Email if you need more info
