Hi all, I have a HQ GTS/4, which is mostly original. It is used as a weekend cruiser. It has the standard rear drum/front disc brakes from the factory
Is there much much to be gained in upgrading the brakes? If so what can be done without changing the standard 14" GTS rims?
Cheers

The easiest is to fit a HZ or WB disc brake rear end. Will bolt straight in, just needs a master cylinder mod to operate the rear discs. Apart from that leave it alone as Frank says!

one of my favorite things about the HQ's is they had great brakes as standard (not including the small amount of 4 wheel drum versions)
if your not happy with the brakes then maybe you need to give them a service, replace the fluid is the best thing to do then bleed the brakes, if your wheel cylinders are leaky then replace them, adjust the rear brakes if needed, check the thickness of your rotors (must be more than 24.5mm thick) and check all your brake pads and rear shoes
