Anyone have a photo showing the positions of the 350 decals on 73/74 HQ 350's ? . . . . The ones that were never factory installed. Apparently theres a few photos in a parts book or a prototype photo or something showing the decals on the rear quaters and boot lid?
I know they were never factory installed on the rear quaters or boot-lid on the 73/74 cars but Im interested to see where they were going to go.
Thanks

I cant find much discussion or info on this topic. I spoke to a good friend of mine the other day regarding a 73/74 HQ GTS4 350 he used to own. He purchased it from the original owner an old boy almost 70. The car still had its excellent condition original paint, I remember seeing it years ago before he sold it. The rear seat had never been sat in. Anyway according to my memory and his photos of the car it had 350 decals located under the Monaro script badges up front. Looked a little strange under the badge but the car was so amazingly original when he purchased it I wonder if theres a chance it was supplied like that? Most people that know a bit about HQ's say that the 71/72 coupes have a 350 sticker on the front guards, and that these decals were never installed on any 73/74 HQ 350's Then I stumbled on this photo on 'Flickr' it is exactly the same as my mates old car, again the 350 decals under the script badges. Thoughts . . arguments . . ??

I'm old enough to have been an interested adult at the time and as Greg say's the script was not there as per that photo. So it was 71 72 decal and 73 74 red script. 1971 with decal http://www.drive.com.au/...ail.aspx?ArticleID=410641974 no decal? http://www.uniquecarsand...lden_hq_monaro_4door.htmEdited by user Sunday, 4 July 2010 3:37:11 AM(UTC)

Just thinking about the boot lid, I remember being disappointed because the 350 decal was dropped for 73 74. As far as I remember there was no way of picking a 350 on the road as of that update. Hey I've been wrong plenty of times, but that's what I recall.

there was never a 350 sticker on any HQ boot lid. 350 4 door GTS got monaro badges on the front guards the same spot as a 253 or 308 GTS did , no 350 Coupes ever got the monaro badge on the front guard that was where the 350 sticker stayed on coupes only.
The 4 door 350 got stickers on the rear quarters because all 4 door GTS had the monaro badges on front guards .

Do you always presume Rare spares know what they are doing ? ever noticed the difference in 350 stickers from original to a Rare spares one, the one in the photo above shows body colour in the center of the 0, a Rare spares one is white in the middle of the 0 .It's a easy way to tell whos been to Rare Spares ! Thanks for the replys.
I agree the 350 decal under the front Monaro script badge looks weird. My mates car was in an almost new condition when he got it and weird or not, thats where they were. Same as the photo above.
Hey 'anonymous' you sound confident there mate: * No 350 Coupes ever got the monaro badge on the front guard (73/74 cars too?) * There was never a 350 sticker on any HQ boot lid (I agree but some dont agree) * The 4 door 350 got stickers on the rear quarters (Most experts dissagree, I dont know)
I'd like to see a brochure showing the decal location on the rear quater. Apparently there was a photo or brochure back in the day.

Rear quarters with 350? i have never seen that. Agree with the rest of it but not all 350 Monaro's got the 350 sticker be it even a 1971-2 with the clear indicators. Maybe it was a deleted option.

[/quote] I've seen them on the rear quaters a couple of times but I dont know where the idea came from. Only 220 4-door cars ever made with the 350 so it wouldnt have been a common sight. Maybe a few dealers put them on there.

Engineering drawing ST-1083,sgeet 18, released 20th September 1972, revised 16th May 73, has the GTS sedan with 350 stickers on the rear quarter of the GTS sedan. Pn 2818748 for 350 designation if 350 engine option. In Norm Darwin's book he uses the engineering drawing but without the 350 sticker on p111.
Sheet 10, Issued 21 June 72, revised 16th May 73 has GTS 350 coupe with 350 stickers on rear quarter and Monaro badges on front guards.
The location is just forward of the side marker, top of the decal in line with the top of the side marker. As it is a drawing I would not like to take dimensions from it.

A friend of mine bought a new HQ GTS/4 350 Auto from a dealer in Melbourne, and it had 350 decals on the rear quarters but not on the boot lid.

Thanks for that Warren, inline with the top of the side indicator. I'd like to put my decals on the rear quaters in the correct position according to engineering drawing ST-1083,sheet 18 . . . . even if it wasnt released like that. Thanks again mate
