Can anyone show photos of the differences in the blocks to do with welch plugs of 149 to the rest of the reds.

And the same with the original grey blocks vs the other greys to do with the welch plugs.

Thanks. Hercule

149 blocks only have 3 (large) welsh plugs on the left-hand side of the block, whereas all other Red, Blue & Black motors have 5 (3 large & 2 small).

The Grey motors had 2 changes. There was a change around engine no. 37832 when the castings were improved in the cylinder wall area & there was another change when the 138 was introduced (FB).

So with the FX gray motors up to about april 1951.
Do they all these up to 37832 have the GMH casting mark on the right side of the block and on the cyl head.
Do all of these up to 37832 have the oil hole running up through the conrod.

I was talking to a dude who i believe was getting mixed up with the Vauxhall motor.

Now back in them days when the Vauxhall was being built beside the Holden's in the factory, was this 6 cyl vauxhall motor fully imported or assembled hear.
Old mate recons the vauxhall 6 cyl was made hear and it's the same motor as the holden grey just with GMH casting behind the fuel pump and IMP casting in front of the fuel pump side of the block.
So i believe that some people, get mixed up between these two motors because they look similar and the Vauxhall may have only two welch plugs on the same side as the Holden grey. and start waffling on about all the Canadian block nonsense.
