when running LPG, as a rule of thumb, should jet sizes be increased, decreased, or stay the same?

doesn't matter, there not used at all with the gas, the only thing that does anything is the butterfly at the bottom

If running pure LPG, advance the timing for better performance and economy. Also close up the spark plug gap fractionally. That helps too. LPG likes a strong spark. Peter.

Hi,
if your engine runs on low octane unleaded then the best thing to do, is do away with the petrol and run higher compression.

Some years ago the meantality was to build engines that would run on low octane unleaded and gas, this however is a compromise just so the owner can run on petrol a tiny amount, I find it best to get a gas book then you will always know where to get gas from.

Gas has a higher octane rating than petrol so to run low compressions is pure NUTS!
10:1 or higher will get the performance and efficiecncy from this superior fuel, useing petrol in a gas car is a waste of time.

I took 40thou off the head which I think gave about 10:1, ran on 96octane ok, and gas, the problem with gas is you get less mpg, an 80litre tank would get me about 299k, so for country running is a bit impractical if gas stations are few and far between. the petrol has the advantage you can carry couple of jerry cans and refuel youself.
I know I wasn't getting the best out of either fuel, but it was better than straight petrol around town.
as far as I could make out, gas is only worth the expense if you do a lot of mileage, and you can get it around 1/2 the price of petrol.
If you are lucky enough to pick up a gas kit cheap it helps. I got mine out of a wrecked HJ and had it professionally fitted.

as said above the jetting of your carb has nothing to do with it

If you want Gas go all the way and go straight gas, up the compression get the right cam and get your dissy graphed to suit, get a single plane manifold, dont mess arround with gas reasearch, just an L converter and impco 425 (or 2 demnding on your engine size and go for it

so the only real adjustment for carb tuning is the screw on the gas inlet side?
its a new gen top hat set up on a $2K daily driver with 650 spreadbore holley.

i backed this screw valve back until i had a few dead spotas i can live with and left it there.
