My Kia has developed a problem with the trafficators.
I was driving along and indicated to turn, and the car sort of hiccuped then both left and right trafficators were operating at the same time, like the hazard lights.I have tried different hazard switch and different trafficator relay, but still does it.
I wonder if it is a earthing problem or something else.
I also notice the fuel gauge does not go down to empty when the ignition is turned off, it used to do that.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks

John I don't know much about Kia's, But you are most likely on the right track when you said earths. Toyota Camry's back in the late 80's had some interesting earth related faults, The one which intermittently caused the engine to falter on left lane changes was a poor earth behind the left headlamp.(indicator wiring) Frustrating to find but at least cheap to fix. Fuel gauge most likely normal some have a capacitor (I think) in the sender. Some Kia's ,Festiva's etc are Mazda based so there should be some forums out there with product knowledge. good luck, Oily

Had the same problem with my VR V8 ute a few years back, i would hit the high beams and the engine would cut for a split second then backfire. i had a bit of rust on the terminals on the relay and fuse conections under the bonnet. I presume cleaning it fixed the problem as it never come back. strange that an earth problem can do that.

Havent you learnt anything from that guy that gives sermons at church?...Captain whats his name.

found the fault.
as I am too lazy to start dismantling everything to find the dash earths etc I checked the towbar light socket. the tailight lead had fractured and was shorting inside. fixed that, cured.
Thanks to bundy and oily for their assistance.
