i've used acetone before, it's a exellent solvent, it removes the glue with ease, it will damage paint and the fumes are strong so be carefull if you use it

when i was younger, i used a sharp knife to pinch badges from cars, sneak up to them, gently lever the knife under it and ping, was mine, never lost a pin or damaged a car, till i got caught by some dude in a orchid LJ, got caught pinchin the 2850 badge of his bootlid..

before you use risky stuff like acetone try white spirit or metho, or plumbers priming fluid that you use when glueing plastic pipe.
You can get it in clear for about $10 500 ml, the red stuff will leave red stains. It might soften the paint if you use a lot or leave it to soak in but is ok to quickly use.

to remove the vinal use a heat gun, it's what the trimmers use, as for the badges as we wreck stated a thin bladed butter knife is best.
