this should technically be in the ford forums, but chances of getting a reply in there are slim. the power steering pulley/pump on my BA falcon shat itself today under normal driving conditions, not sure why..the pulley makes a noise when the engine is running like it is not engaging on the shaft into the pump, instead just skipping across the splines. when the engine is off i can push the pulley toward the pump and onto the shaft, making it engage with the splines but then once i start the engine the pulley walks its way off again. bloody annoying, driving round with no power steering, it makes the steering in my HX feel feather light. i went and saw a mechanic and he said the whole pulley is pressed onto the shaft, so i would need to get a new shaft as well..pretty much just wondering if anyone had another option or idea or anything? sorry for rambling haha

get yourself some Locktite shaft fix. It's specifically designed to help keep pressed pulleys onto the shaft.
You must have some wear in it as those pulleys are usually very hard to get on and off.
Vandals and graffiti "artists" do everyone a favour and target parking meters and fixed speed cameras only. |
