hey everyone bought some HDT MOMO look a like rims the other day so i could take my real ones off of my VK (as they are worth more than the car) the ones i bought need a polish or a paint (Havant decide yet). how can i polish or paint my own? or is it easyer to just take them and get them done properly? if this is the case , where is the cheapest place in Adelaide to get it done? not to fussed about the quality as its my every day driver , hence why i took the real ones off. cheers!

To 'restore' a set of Momo stars costs anywhere from $250-400 per rim in Sydney.
It's not that hard to paint them yourself - just sand back the old paint, scuff the alloy, spray with a quality etch primer, then undercoat & colour. If you wanted to polish the lip, you can do that yourself if it's in good condition, but if it's poor, it's best left to an expert. if there's any pitting or corrosion in the finish of the outer lip, it can't be (economically) removed for a flawless finish, so consider colour-coding the entire wheel.
What a wheel place will do, that you can't do yourself, is "re-roll" your rims, which brings any warped/bent rims back into a true round shape, to avoid any wobbles & vibrations through the car.
I can't recommend anyone in Adelaide, but I can tell you of a wheel painter to avoid, as he likes the look of his own shedding hair in the clear coat..... and a metal polisher who will take your money up front & do a crap job that takes months, then leave the wheels outside in the rain for you to pick up, with no protection (from theft or the elements) and no coating over the polished section, so it corrodes to a white powder finish literally in hours...

Not really that hard. I'm doing some myself at the moment - click on the "email me" link in my profile, send me your email address, and I'll send you some pics.
