Why would a new coil on a WB loose its oil and stop working within 35km of fitting it?

You didn't happen to fit a "12V use with resistor" coil did you?

If so those coils only run about 7 or 8 volts and the WB runs a 12V coil. This would cause your coil to overheat quite quickly.

Vandals and graffiti "artists" do everyone a favour and target parking meters and fixed speed cameras only.
