Hi all, Im looking at purchasing a HQ Premier and I was wondering if I could kindly get some advice on what its worth so I dont pay too much for it. This is the deal:

One owner still (80 year old Italian man I kid you not!) 04/1974 HQ Premier, 131,000kms, 202 high comp, column auto, bench seat, no air or steer, has factory disc brake front end, Aquamarine paint with dark brown interior. Has been resprayed in the original colour around 20 odd years ago and the paint job is in excellent condition as is all the chrome bumpers, moulds, hubcaps and wheel trims etc. Interior is also in excellent original condition and the front bench has been re trimmed at some stage in the original material. It has a couple of little rust spots as to be expected. It looks absolutely immaculate; you just dont see these cars in this condition anymore.

Anyway.the old guy has had a few people telling him that its worth big bucks like $10k plus.so Im not going to get it off him for a steal, I just want to pay him what its really worth and no more. All your advice is much appreciated!

I paid $2000 for a one owner complete unmolested 74 Premier with original (Aquamarine) paint, bucket seats and 202/trimatic less than 2 years ago. Sounds very similar to mine. I think mine had around 120k on the clock, column auto, no steer, after market air. Hope this helps.

Big Al - no it doesn't help :) Looks like you grabbed a nice bargain there! I'd say its worth a fair bit more than $2000, what do you think they are honestly worth?

Its worth what you're prepared to pay for it. If you think its worth $10k then give the guy $10k. As long as you're happy with it at the end of the day.

If you're going to chop it up and put a V8 in it, and change the interior etc, then you're paying a premium for nothing. If you want to restore it to original condition its probably a good starting point.
