(sorry moderators I posted this also in the buy/sell section - probably should of just posted it here)
Hi all, Im looking at purchasing a HQ Premier and I was wondering if I could kindly get some advice on what its worth so I dont pay too much for it. This is the deal:
One owner still (80 year old Italian man I kid you not!) 04/1974 HQ Premier, 131,000kms, 202 high comp, column auto, bench seat, no air or steer, has factory disc brake front end, Aquamarine paint with dark brown interior. Has been resprayed in the original colour around 20 odd years ago and the paint job is in excellent condition as is all the chrome bumpers, moulds, hubcaps and wheel trims etc. Interior is also in excellent original condition and the front bench has been re trimmed at some stage in the original material. It has a couple of little rust spots as to be expected. It looks absolutely immaculate; you just dont see these cars in this condition anymore.
Anyway.the old guy has had a few people telling him that its worth big bucks like $10k plus.so Im not going to get it off him for a steal, I just want to pay him what its really worth and no more. All your advice is much appreciated!

I paid $9k for my HJ Premier in immaculate condition, 108,000kM, 308 plus fully optioned. As a guide. HQ will be worth more, but take $ off for lesser options and rust.

I paid $900 for mine 2 years ago. Rough, but all there, even to the original trim rings. Royal purple, Repainted with a brush! white roof, flax interior. 202 col auto, discs. Never had a radio or any other options. Rust wise- bottoms of doors, cowl, and doglegs. I'm sure there'll be more, but thats all I've found.
Value of yours- sheesh I dunno, gut feeling is well under $10K though.

have any of these experts offered him 10 grand to buy it I think not. 5-7 is closer I think considering its not fully loaded. We had a HQ de ville low millage one owner in our club ,this car was show room cond but had no air and wind-up windows it changed hands for $7,500.00

It`s worth what you are willing to pay for the car that you want !! It sounds like a super clean low klm vehicle and as you noted mate if you feel its worth $5500 to $7000 then that`s what its worth !! Unless there are other people with 10 grand in there hand to fork over for it then your in the box seat. True market value on all COLLECTOR AND CLASSIC cars fluctuates with regard to supply and demand. If many want it the price rises , and if no body is looking to buy it sits and does not sell . Good luck .

I would have thought $5-8K with top end being smooth running with a roadworthy and rego. If it is old or rare - Cut it! http://www.ehlimo.com.au/ |
