Hi all, have finally got my Monaro legal after 7 months trying to get a vin #, so all good. I have just filled fuel tank completly (bathurst tank) went for a drive, parked up in garage went out to
car 2 hours later to find petrol leaking out of cap? undone cap with fuel leaking out??? removed some petrol to about 1" below cap, next day home from work & petrol again leaking from cap & had to remove some more petrol (makes it own petrol, GREAT). Temp in garge not hot.
Things pressurising ?? Where to look? Breather tube maybe?
Tank has return line from top of tank to top of filler tube/neck but no other small tube/vent pipe (as I have seen in other cars). Could I have the wrong filler tube/neck? Any advise would be great.
Regards JSS

I know with my HT Prem ( 75 litre )when I filled it to the top with the bowser cut off u can c the fuel almost to the kneck of the filler ! To many left hand turns when its full and u will lose fuel regardless of what type of cap u have and is a common prob with these models koz the position of the tank is fairly high . Do u still have the problem after u have used more fuel ? Being a Bathurst tank do u need to top up all the way ?

Firstly it is important to check you have the right cap for the vehicle such as a CPC 15X.You might have had the cap replaced by the wrong one over the years. There are many different caps that all work under different pressures with venting and non venting styles. Then check that the gasket on the cap is sealing against the lip of the filler tube. There is also the problem that the filler neck shape is like a ramp and tightens the cap as you turn it to create the sealing, but after many years sometimes this wears enough to prevent a total seal.If it is a CPC cap then contact them as they are usually helpful.
