hey guys. looking to fit a bigger cam into my red 308 with VN heads. i was told its a stage 4 cam from somebody. its 2500 to 6200rpm rev range. its small enought so i dont need roller rockers.so its not too bad in size. the local engine machine shop told me that a cam that size with snap standard valves in the VN heads and i need stainless valves. is he taking me for a ride for more dollars or will standard valve will cope

Hi, did you know there is a technical section for questions like that?

Are you going into racing or what?

There are so many varibles here that it would need a lot more information to be able to answer, but stainless valves are better than standard ones.

Big cams are no good in traffic unless you ride the clutch heaps.

If you have a Van as seems to be the case by your name, you are wasting your time as it is not a race car!

I had a Sandman here set up with a big can and it was the biggest bucket of s##t I have driven, if you want something fast get something light and lower.

I have now converted this Sandman back to original and it is nice to drive.

Mike
