Hi folks, Please allow these q's to be slightly off topic but they are still concerning GM vehicles! I am looking at purchasing a 1978 Trans Am and am trying to find out when air con became standard or even an option. Does anyone have performance figures for the 6.6 litre engine for these cars. They don't appear to have much horsepower and go for their displacement, is this a fact or just the old HP at rear wheels compared to flywheel confusion? Also, to keep it Holden orientated, how much trouble would it be and would performance gains be worthwhile considering fitting a current model Holden/Chev injected motor in place of the original 6.6L TA motor? Any replies would be appreciated. thanks, Ben

ben,the 78 t/a is the second gemeration body shape which started in 1970...the 6.6 litre ram air 3 motor in the 70 t/a was factory rated at 366 hp gross..in 1971 all hp figures were calculated on net hp which meant with all accessories..due to the oil emb Edited by user Sunday, 20 March 2005 10:44:10 PM(UTC)
