I'm selling my Holden HX Limited Edition Monaro. For some reason 2 people from the U.K have inquired about the car. I find this quite odd. I am selling the car on Ebay. Can i really trust what is going on here? They want to buy a car they cant even inspect. Opinions anyone?

If they won't come & look at it personally, or send a mate to look at it, walk away from it.

It's most likely that they have hotmail, yahoo or gmail addresses. Yes, a lot of genuine people do use those email addresses as well, but most will have an ISP, work or education email address that you can send stuff to - and that's another way to pick a genuinely interested party.

Send them an email asking them a few questions about why they like your particular model, or Monaros in general. Genuine answers will be things like "I lusted over them as a kid" or "Dad had one" or "I've finally got enough equity to buy one" - you'll soon sniff out the non-genuine buyers.

And finally - if you're still unsure, get their phone number & ring them up (don't give them yours). If they are a real buyer, they'll know a bit about what they're buying. If they're a scammer, and they've made it this far, then you'll trip them up easily in a phone call (or they'll avoid it).

I cant tell you if it is a scam or not, but there are huge numbers of Aussies living in the U.K and a lot of them are Holden fans. It could just be that an Aussie over here is looking for something a bit different.
Try having a word to Ken Garner or Guy Hardy from the Holden U.K register.If people are looking to import a Holden they often contact them first to see if anyone wants to sell one that is already in the U.K. They may know if this is genuine or not.
