Good job mate, I'm also 15 turning 16 I own a HQ GTS MONARO Sdn and a HQ Kingswood both needing full restoration. I'm lucky that my cars do not have much rust.

Hi guys, It's been a long time since I've been on here. And about the same amount of time since I've worked on this car!
My fiance and I moved back with my folks to save a bit of money for a house, so I'm taking this opportunity to get some work done on the HQ. My soon to be father in law is an engine re-conditioner so thats a perk!
I pulled the front calipers out and reco'd them but I've discovered its really hard to find anyone who sells the caliper slide seals by themselves. You can buy complete brake repair kits but that includes new sliders clips and pistons, which I don't need. I can buy new pistons for about $30 a pop and I have the piston seals, it's litterally 8 little rubber seals and I think 4 or 8 little metal rings (not sure if theres one at each end of the slide). The complete kits cost about $160 per caliper and at that point I'd almost be better off buying aftermarket calipers, any advice would be appreciated.
Regards, Steve. |
