Hi there,
I'm having a doozy of time trying to figure out how to connect up a TPS sensor to a quadrajet. I know in the USofA there were the computer controlled quadrajets, but I don't have one of them - I've only got a standard quad. I already have a TPS from a VS commodore, but this isn't very suitable as the TPS has a recessed hole to accept the butterfly shaft on the EFI throttle body. So if I use this type of TPS I need to bodge up a lever of some kind and hold in nicely in place. Also the VS TPS rotates the wrong way. Looking at the face of the TPS I'd really like it to rotate counter-clockwise. Nobody in a auto shop can tell me which TPS will rotate counter-clockwise without me buying it first. (Bosch's unit on their website is discontinued - apparently) OR .... I could use a TPS with a builtin arm and attach to the quadrajet via a customised accelerator cable kit. There is an American kit which does this, but they don't export to Aust.
Has anyone done this before? (Do you have an electronic quadrajet you'd like to get rid of?)
Ultimately what I'm trying to do is fit a LPG closed loop computer to a 305 Chev. To do this I need a TPS and and O2 sensor. The O2 has been dead easy, but the TPS mounting issue is giving me a headache.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Pete (of backwater Adelaide)

if your going straight gas what about using a efi throttle body? im sure the 305 came out in throttle body and mpi injection.

The VS TPS you have - is it V6 or V8?
Reason I ask, is the VS (ecotec) V6 TPS works in the opposite direction to the VN-VS V8, and the VN-VR V6.

Thanks Mick and Petaus,
Yes its a V6 TPS (and I got the direction wrong in the original post - should be "face of the TPS I'd really like it to rotate clockwise"). I will check out the V8 TPS as soon as I can.
I was actually looking at going stright gas with an EFI throttle body. I got a TB off a V6, I can't remember if it was VP or VS, but it rotated the opposite way to the quadrajet. So if I did a direct replacememt the linkages would be on the wrong side of intake manifold etc. I'll now go and check out the V8, cause if the TPS rotates the other way then so should the butterfly, which should (in theory) match up with my current 305 Chev accelerator cable setup .....
so I'll have another go and I'll let you know how I go.
Thanks
Pete

Just to clarify the throttle bodies & TPS thing for you.
All VN-VR V6 and all VN-VS V8 run the same throttle body direction & TPS.
VS-VY ecotec V6 run the throttle blade in the opposite direction, and hence have a different TPS.
