Good question. To my knowledge most of them ran on Michelin or Pirelli radials, which were a production option back then. The rules allowed any tyre to be used as long as they were standard size & street legal. This was before the days of racing slicks. It is well documented that Bruce McPhee ran Michelin XAS tyres in 1968. That's right, it was the Fords than tried disguised race rubber in 1969 and blamed that for not winning.
