Power steering dip stick for XD-XE-XF and 71-72 ZB wreckers say they are the same. Problem is that the nylon side tabs become heat affected with age and break off. Has anyone ever modified these dip sticks or fitted new tabs so that they attach firmly to the pump body without coming loose ? All ideas welcome

can tell you straight away they are not the same dipstick.
xd ran the early style pump, xe/xf ran the late style modern pump
are you after early or late style?

Flick the pump and go to the later tear drpped shapped pump. You won't regret it.
