Hi Guys,
I have picked up a nice 1969 HT Kingswood with a 186 backed by a Powerglide. I also have sitting in the garage a rebuilt 253 with a trimatic backing it. Easy swap or is their more than meets the eye??

easy swap ,and parts are everywhere,exhaust,engine,trans mounts,etc.but you can leave it ,if its in good condition(not everything has to be a v8,just mine..lol)

shouldn't be too much of a drama.
you need the 253 to have HT / HG sump and pickup thou.
+ V8 radiator with hoseout lets on opposite side than 6 cyl.

we had a guy in our club with a HK prem 186 powerglide ,the motor was running and looked like a new one,he changed it to a 307 along with all the v8 drive train, his car was never the same and they couldnt get the motor to run as good as the old one did, he likes v8`s but regretted doing it later.

I depends heavily upon where the engine and trimatic came from.
If it is from a HT it will bolt straight in if you use HT trimatic column shift linkage or trimatic T-bar, accelerator linkage, kickdown cable, tailshaft and diff centre (note that column shift HT-HG trimatic are RH shift and T-bar are LH shift). If it from a HQ-WB or Commodore it will need a sump/pickup for the motor and these boxes are electric kickdown, noting also that if it is a RH kickdown (HQ-HZ roughly) it will work with HT-HG column linkages, LH shift (Commodore and some WB) work with HT-HG T-bar.
