Hi Guys,

Got myself into a spot of bother the other night which resulted in me inadvertantly putting my CV8 GTS into the boggy shoulder of the road. No worries I thought, just give RACQ a ring, who I have been an Ultra Club member since I was 17, and they will come out and get me out. Break down truck came and got bogged alongside me and then refused to do anything else to free my car. RACQ Ultra Club then tried to argue that being bogged is not considered a break down and left me to it. Circumstances beyond my control resulted in my car being left where it was bogged overnight.

The RACQ wiped there hands of the matter and my car was vandalised some time during the night. The pricks stole every badge off the car, tried to take the side skirts and front and rear spoilers and when they could not get them off broke them in two. Both door mirrors looked like they had a crow bar wedged between the windscreen pillar and the mirror and reefed on! They could not get the wheels off because of the lock nuts on them so they then hammered the s*** out of the alloy wheels for fun by the look of it. AS a coup de grace they then ran a key or screw driver down both sides of the car from the rear tail lights to the front head lights leaving gouges down to the bare metal. The bastards even siphoned the fuel out of the tank and stole the petrol cap, after snapping the fuel door off.

It took a mate of mine and myself 20 minutes with his 4wd to tow the car free the morning after. The RACQ has a lot of explaining to do!

While the police where dusting the car for prints I apparently clutched at my chest and collapsed. A trip to hospital in an ambulance resulted in the diagnosis of a suspected heart attack brought on by stress!

Keep an eye on your pride and joy because there are jealous malicious bastards out there who are just waiting for an opportunity!

Cheers,
Allan

Sorry to hear about this hope you are on the mend.

Check page 5 on this document...

In reality the whole thing will be up to the insurance company, so to keep the stress levels down the best thing to do is to get the incident number off the Police, photograph the car all over, sit down and write out an essay on the whole saga setting out the dot points and quote whatever the operator said to you and bung it all in with the claim. Get everything documented then relax about it, that's what insurance is for.

I hope your insurance covers the damage. I know of a similar story and he wasnt covered for the damage because the car was not 'secured'
Locked up on the side of a road dosent always mean 'secured' to these insurance companies.

Hope youre ok Allan, it all means nothing realy when compared to your health.

Hi Guys,

Apoligies for not responding in a prompt manner! I seem to be going through a bout of s*** luck at the moment. The Monaro is going to cost in the region of $10,000 to fix but you and I know it will never be the same. We are awaiting for the assessor from Shannons to come and look at the car and sign off on the repairs. From what I have been told he is a bit of a tough nut trying to make a name for himself and likes to argue the toss which is all I need.

As the Monaro is off the road I am driving the HT Kingy which was great until yesterday. Without any warning whatsoever as I was coming down our street the motor went bang crunch rattle stop! As I was only a few metres from the driveway I thought I would let the momentum of the rolling car get me up the gutter onto the driveway which resulted in the rear drivers side door which apparently was not shut properly to throw itself open and catch on the side of the skip bin sitting on the side of the driveway tearing the door handle completely off and doing it's best to take the door with it! Door now won't shut, hinges have been pulled and the door handle being ripped off made a mess behind the door card as well.

Some days I think I should just stay in bed!

Got a call from the RACQ saying they where looking into my claims of bad service! The QLD Manager for the RACQ who I sent a 6 page letter of concern and complaint too via express post overs 2 weeks ago couldn't be bothered to get back to me himself which under the circumstances you would think would be a given, instead he had one of his department heads ring me with the usual we'll get back too you! I won't hold my breath!

Into hospital tomorrow for an ACL knee reconstruction and hopefully out for Christmas but the way my luck has been going?

I have a 1975 LH V8 4 speed Torana I am building into a replica of Brockys Bathurst racer with full race livery ect in the shed but the way things have been going with cars in my hands lately I think I need to get the monkey off my back before I get it on the road!

Anyway, enough of my jabbering! Hoping that everyone and their families have a safe and memorable Christmas and New Year.

From everyone hear at the Fuary household in a rather damp Rockhampton, Merry Christmas!

Cheers,
Allan

G'day Allan,

Glad to hear that you are OK. They say bad luck comes in three's so it looks like you've had your three, the Monaro, the heart attack and now the HT.

As far as I know Shannons have a system of Regional Development Officers, the one in my area has a panel shop and does his fair share of classic & modern cars, he has a car painted up in Shannons colours and attends car shows and swap meets etc. Might be worth finding out if they have such a person in your area and if so having a chat to them.

Compliments of the season to you & your family.

Bob.
