It's good to see confusion can still reign supreme on here! The only aspect of any Holden that is/has been "GMH verified" is the VIN of the car in question. A verification letter from Holden confirms that a vehicle bearing the VIN you have supplied to them was produced by the company on such and such a date. Additional useful information regarding the vehicle may also accompany this statement. It is made very clear that it is the VIN that is being verified and not the vehicle that currently bears the VIN plate. This very significant point appears to be missed by many people. They advise that the vehicle in question be examined by a competent person/s to ascertain that it is what it is being presented as - per the VIN. The letter from Holden is one thing of worth, but there would only be a handful of people who would be able to confirm beyond doubt that the vehicle/plate relationship was as it was when the vehicle first left a Holden plant.

"GMH verified" means that the VIN has been verified and nothing more. Like any person, the people who provide this service at Holden can make mistakes. It would be easy to look up the wrong VIN for example and a letter sent that was of little or no use because it was for the 'wrong' vehicle. A second attempt may sort things out if the first came back in error.

I know from my dealings with this kind of thing that there are many cars/owners who are surprised to say the least when a report comes back on their supposed 'dead original' Holden. The Holden letter is only one part of the vehicle verification process. Beware.

If you look at the letter, he has told them it is an SS hatch, so they have run with that.

Cheers,
Pete.
