Hi All

A friend has asked me to put an add on for a 253 (which has been modified and is very strong) and a recently reconditioned trimatic (both currently in a HQ wagon) as he is putting in a new motor (350) and gearbox.

He is looking for around $900 for the lot (but isnt keen to separate at this stage).

I can get photos if required

Can you get me the engine number and cast date? A friend is looking for a certain range for an original resto.

HK, i have been advised by my mate that the number is 0221.

This doesn't seem to follow any of the normal protocols, but maybe you know if this could be correct?

I went around tonight and it is actually D221. I dunno what that stands for though.

Hi Mark.
D221 means that the block was cast on the 22nd of April 1971.
From that date I would expect it to be a late HG engine originally and I would also expect
it to have a engine number that starts with 253H and have a 5 digit number after that.

Could also be from a HQ plated 5/71, 6/71 or at the outside 7/71. So in that case it could be QTxxxx or QTxxxxx

went quicker and faster, just not quick enough.

now being rebuilt with less cam, much less comp, and a turbo.
