Hi guys,
I understand this is a Holden forum but I wonder if I could ask for some help/
I am trying to track down the '68 Gto Pontiac I used to own back in the late '70s / early '80s.
It was one of the first Aussie built street machine type vehicles and was one of the two cars on the cover of the first edition of Street Machine Magazine when it changed it's title from Van Wheels.
It was multi coloured at the time but was painted straight yellow by a later owner.
I have been told it was at one stage lying half trashed at the rear of an exhaust shop in Dandenong and was later sold to some-one in Sydney.
It had fibreglass bonnet, boot, nose panel and bumpers, lexan windows and a ladder bar rear end so it shouldn't be too hard to identify.
Any help you can give or leads you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Just for the record do you mean Peter Hughes ex Ivan Hughes of Sydney or another Hughsie?

David, there's only one Ivan Peter Hughes, all the rest are cardboard cutouts. And, no, Pete really didn't wreck your GTO, just thought we'd have you on for a while!! He doesn't know of it's whereabouts, but we both hope you're successful in your endeavours to find it. If you want his contact details to renew the acquaintance, I can PM them to you.
Now, what was that Boom Crash Opera story I heard years ago ???

that sure was the car, but i believe it was actually at the rear of the late keith matcham's panel shop before he was shot and killed.
he was a pontiac nut at the time of his death and had a few wrecks as well.

Bob, as for Ivan Peter Hughes (I had forgotten his first name was actually Ivan) the last I heard of him was via Chris Warner and Chris Hilman about 12 months ago. Neither of them knew exactly where he is but both thought he had moved to the NSW Central Coast and was reconditioning engines to make a crust.
I would love to catch up with him if you have a number. I have been planning a bit of a road trip to catch up with Chris and Chris and it would be neat to factor in Peter as well. As for Boom Crash Opera you will have to jog my memory.
"We wreck......" Boy that name is a blast from the past. I remember Keith very well. It is probably fair to say he, Gary Morrisoff and a hand full of others were the main stay of Pontiac fans in Melbourne in the earlier days. What you say about the GTO could well be correct as the info I have is very sketchy to say the least. Any other info that you may be able to come up with would be greatly appreciated.

i can remember considering buying that car as it sat on the car lot in Lygon st Sydney rd in the early eighties, god that yard had some hotties go thru there, wish we could go back in time, Hey
